Presenter Profile
Ibtihal Ismail Bsis
Ibtihal is a barrister at law having been called to the Bar in 1994, but believes that the most important job that Allah (swt) gave her was to be a dawah carrier. Ibtihal lived in France during the hijab ban and was a political activist raising awareness and dispelling the misconceptions about Muslim women. Ibtihal then returned to Britain only to be blessed with the third child. Ibtihal is deeply thankful to Allah for giving her the opportunity to be a wife and a mother. Alhamdulillah.

I am most inspired by Prophet Mohammed's (saw) response to Khadija (ra) when she saw that he was shaking and she(ra) told him (saw) to rest: "After today there will be no rest”. As an Ummah we should never rest in our pursuit to spread the beauty of this deen.

Aamna Durrani
Aamna is a scientist by profession and has worked in science since 1999. Most importantly Aamna is mother of two lovely boys, Mash’ Allah, and is actively involved in their school. Aamna has always been interested in issues affecting Muslims on both national and international levels and is intrigued by people generally. Aamna first started to work for Islam at the age of 17 and thanks to Allah SWT alone haven’t stopped since then. Of all actions surely the ones done purely for His SWT’s sake are the worthiest and lasting ones.

Oh you who believe! Answer the call of Allah and His Messenger to that which will give you life, and know that Allah comes in between a person and his heart. And verily to Him you shall all be gathered. (Surah al Anfal: verse 24

Dr. Shabela Begum
Shabela is a GP by profession, living and working in East London. She graduated from Oxford University and completed her Medical studies at Barts' and the Royal London Hospital. Ever since her university days, Shabela has been actively involved in the Islamic da'wah and in recent years she has been at the heart of community organisations bringing Muslim women together to discuss the various issues facing them. Shabela has also been involved in initiatives aimed at giving non-Muslims a better understanding of Islam through dialogue and debate, as well as this, she has hosted a topical women's talk show. For shabela, one of the most important duties in life is to be a mouthpiece for Allah's deen, using one's skills, time and energy to convey the haq.

Verily! Man is in loss, except those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth, and recommend one another to patience. (Al-Asr:103)

Shahina
Shahina discovered the importance of the media and the impact that it can have on the world at an early age. Her keen interest in global politics, especially in the Muslim world and social issues, combined with her interest in the media lead her to pursue a career that she felt could make a difference, or at least raise awareness of dilemma’s effecting real people and real lives. Now a graduate of Journalism, she has worked in various fields of the media. However, when Islam became the focus of her life (by the mercy of Allah SWT), she has dedicated her experience of working in the media in carrying the call for Islam. And close to her heart is to encourage Muslim women to come forward and engage themselves in discussing and responding to the common attacks that constantly face Islam, especially regarding the subject of women and her status in Islam. Hence, she is now happy to be a part of a show that gives Muslim and non-Muslim women a platform to come together and discuss this beautiful deen of ours, Alhumdulillahi Rabbil ‘Alameen .

Inspiring comment:

“The Believers, men and women, are protectors, one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil…” (Qur’an 9: 71)

This ayah describes men and women as partners and equal in their duty towards our deen and in their loyalty towards each other. This inspires me because it relieves a woman from the age-old burden of competing and measuring up to men to define their worth. There is no greater honour than the honour and status already bestowed upon us by our Rabb Himeslf.
