The current series of tafseer lessons started from Surah al-Fatiha in the early 1990's and is currently on Surah Qaf in its fifteenth year. * Born in 1942 in Delhi in a scholarly family, Shaikh Suhaib Hasan studied the Qur'an, Hadith, Arabic, Tafsir and other Islamic sciences with his father, Shaikh Abdul Ghaffar Hasan, and other teachers. He has a chain that goes back to the Prophet (saw) through Imam Bukhari. He graduated from Punjab University and the Islamic University of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah in the 1960s, being amongst its earliest batches of students. His teachers there included Shaikh Muhammad al-Amin al-Shanqiti, Shaikh ibn Baz and Sheikh al-Albani. He spent nine years in Kenya, before moving to the UK in 1976 and has spent almost three decades in da'wah work. He helped found Al-Tawhid Mosque, Al-Quran Society and the Islamic Sharia Council in London, all of which he currently heads. He has also served as the Chairman of Muslim Aid for two years. Shaikh Suhaib completed his PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham in the 1990s and has published a number of works and translations in English, Urdu and Arabic.
