'The Islam Channel is looking for a Sound Engineer on an initial 3 month contract with a review for potential full-time basis thereafter.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year’s experience working with broadcast cameras on location and within a studio environment.

The  Sound Engineer must possess a specific aptitude for problem solving; responsibilities include assembling, operating and maintaining the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce sound.

The Sound Engineer will be required to identify the sound requirements for a given task or situation and perform the appropriate actions to produce this sound. This may be for a studio show, on-field production, post production or for a live performance at an event.

Other tasks would include, Studio Set up, test and adjust recording equipment for recording sessions and live performances and shows.

Duties

Broadcast IT Engineer

You will be responsible for the IT and telecommunication infrastructure of a 24/7 television channel and video production company with two premises in London and around 80 employees. This will include all desktop machines which comprise of Macs and PCs (XP and 7) and professional graphics editing suites as well as related hardware. All joined to Windows 2003 Active Directory and SBS back-end with fiber links and Linux servers plus Cisco routers and switches and Sonicwall firewall. Also, at studio site, there are several Windows based play-out and studio automation systems with redundancy plus their client machines able to playout 4 channels simultaneously operational 247.

 

Ideal candidate would have following abilities:

 

1- Minimum university degree at BSc level in related field or equivalent experience

2- Expert in Windows Administration, MCSE or MCTS certified

3- Hand on experience with Linux (RedHat) with knowledge of Zimbra, Squid, Bind, Bash

4- Cisco CCNA certified with experience in TCP/IP networking and connectivity, network security and firewalls

5- Familiar with Mac OS X and editing suites like FCP and Premier

6- General knowledge of broadcast systems is required and past experience with Vectorbox would be an advantage

7- Good knowledge of MS Office suite

8- Good communication skills, self starter, quick learner, responsible and able to lead the whole department
