Islam Channel Urdu is seeking a passionate Video Editor and Motion Graphics Designer to work across multiple platforms for broadcast media and TV commercials. Responsibilities

We are looking for an Assistant Producer to work on a youth show for teenagers as well as other programming for the department.

                                                                                                                

We need someone who can bring the rigour of a journalistic mind combined with the ability to conduct in-depth research, build relationships and get the best out of experts, contributors and presenters. 

 

The ideal candidate will have preferably worked on religion and history programmes and has demonstrable experience of taking a lead in researching and identifying contributors and locations for Islamic specialist factual programmes.

 

The post-holder will also have proven capability in taking material through to the edit and working with an Editor to cut sequences for the programmes.

 

Post holders at this level report to Head of Department.

 

Purpose of role

 

Assistant Producers contribute to the output by working as part of a production team. You will be required to take responsibility for a whole programme or sections within a programme.

 

The role includes involvement at every stage of the production process including research and pre-production, location and post production. You will be passionate about all our output, know what makes a good story and relish the challenge of producing creative and ambitious content.


Responsibilities


Assistant Producer role duties may encompass any or all of the following:

 

  • To work effectively to ensure all content is thoroughly researched and meets Islam Channel’s editorial standards.

  • Such research may involve either a journalistic or academic approach, and may involve finding and contacting individuals and organisations; finding locations for filming; identifying and selecting stock shots and film clips; making a preliminary selection of suitable material and music.

 

  • Evaluate research in terms of programme aims and intentions and write persuasive treatments and concise briefs on potential stories and contributors for both directors and expert presenters

 

  • To be involved in researching and setting up filming, including the identification of suitable programme contributors, locations and story lines, working closely at all times to the editorial brief of the Producer.  To recce people and places in advance of filming and, where appropriate, negotiate access.

 

  • To script material effectively.

 

  • To communicate effectively and build strong relationships with contributors, presenters and experts.

 

  • To direct crews or direct shoots creatively and efficiently on location in the UK and/or abroad as and when required.

You will be knowledgeable about business and finance, including Shariah finance and report with confidence on business news.


Your responsibilities will include:

 

-          generating original ideas for programme content

-          writing scripts around business and finance news across different programmes

-          writing and editing VT packages

-          sourcing contributors and building a contacts book within this sector

-          filming reports – you will be required to interview guest, record pieces to camera to create business reports

 

 

Skills required:

-          excellent writing skills

-          excellent time-management, organisational skills, planning skills

-          the ability to calmly and effectively prioritise workload

-          demonstrable experience of working productively and collaboratively within a diverse production team; playing a key supporting role to the Producer and of delivering a high quality product to deadline

You will have strong writing skills as you will not only present shows but contribute to the drafting of scripts and the production of each programme.


You will be eloquent, articulate and confident in delivering and commenting on local and global business news, in addition to leading discussions on all aspects of business and finance, including Shariah finance with guest contributors.


You will have excellent time-management, organisational skills, planning skills and the ability to calmly and effectively prioritise workload. You will be required to build and maintain a wider range of business contacts, including resource providers and contributors for the programme.

3. 3D experience, particularly in Cinema 4D & 3D Studio MAX

4. A good grasp of post-production processes and services for broadcast

5. A good working knowledge of Mac OSX, PC and digital workflows

6. A strong ability to work to specification and tight deadlines

Volunteer Fundraiser

We are looking for two Fundraising Volunteers to help support Teebah Foundation, a charity which is currently supporting a number of projects internationally, including Hospitals, an Autistic School and an Orphanage.

Travel Expenses of up to £10 will be covered per day.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Following the current Fundraising Strategy developed by the Project Manager;

• Developing new and imaginative fundraising ideas;

• Raising awareness of the charity and its work, at both local and national level;

• Representing the charity when attending events to fundraise;

• Increasing funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity's aims and activities.

 

JOB SPECIFICATION:

 

The candidate is an outgoing individual that must have good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a small team and the ability to work alone. The candidates must be able to work to deadlines with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently. Administrative/IT skills would be good.

Knowledge of the local community would be a bonus and possessing good interactive skills when dealing with the public. Experience of small and large fundraising events and can develop/use fundraising databases. Training will be provided.

 

Driving license would be an advantage but not essential.

You will be responsible for the IT and telecommunication infrastructure of a television channel and video production company in London and around 80 employees. This will include all desktop machines which comprise of Macs and PCs (Windows 7 / 8 Pro) and professional graphics editing suites as well as related hardware. Also, there are several Windows based play-out and studio automation systems with redundancy plus their client machines able to playout 4 channels simultaneously operational 24/7.

 

Ideal candidate would have following abilities:

 

·         Minimum university degree at BSc level in related field or equivalent experience

·         Expert in Windows Administration, MCSE or MCTS certified

·         Hand on experience with Linux ( RedHat / CentOS ) with knowledge of Zimbra,

·         Cisco CCNA certified with experience in TCP/IP networking, security and firewalls configurations ( Dell Sonic Wall / Cisco ASA)

·         Mastering Windows 2003 R2/Windows 2008 R2 /Windows 2012 R2  Storage

·         Mastering Active Directory/File Sharing/Exchange mail server /Network printer

Islam Channel is looking for an enthusiastic intern who is looking for broadcast journalist experience to assist in the day to day running of the programme.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

1. Invite and co-ordinate with guests

The Report broadcasts every week night, bringing the latest news from across the world to viewers in over 136 countries. It’s fast-paced, fluid and has great ambitions to develop.


Seeking journalists with sound editorial judgement who can identify what an Islam Channel audience would be interested in. The ideal candidates will already have some journalism experience and be motivated to work in what can be a high-pressured environment.
