The month of Rajab 2022 is upon us - the sacred month with many virtues.

Rajab is the 7th month in the Islamic Hijri calendar and one of the four sacred months - the others being Dhul-Qi’dah, Dhul-Hijjah and Muharram.

"The number of months with Allah has been twelve since the time he created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred. That is the right religion. So do not wrong yourselves during them," Surah At-Tawbah, verse 36.

Rajab is also the month the journey of Isra and Miraj took place — which is expected to be on the 18th of February.

That is when the Prophet (PBUH) was taken on a miraculous journey by Allah (SWT) from Makkah to Jerusalem, and then through the seven heavens where he met several prophets.

The month's special significance means good deeds are of greater value but sins also weigh more in the sacred month.

It is encouraged for us to increase our ibadat during this month, to recite the Quran more and ask for forgiveness.

The month is also a great way to build on that spiritual connection before Ramadan begins.
