Islam Channel hosts inaugural Business Awards


Islam Channel, the leading English Islamic TV channel, hosted its first ever Business Awards Ceremony on the 1st of March 2019. The distinguished ceremony was held at the Hilton London Metropole hotel, one of the largest and most prestigious conference hotels in Europe.

Hosted by the BBC’s award-winning presenter Asad Ahmed, the event was broadcast live on the world’s leading Islamic TV Channel, which has a global reach to 136 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

The Awards received hundreds of nominations across 12 categories ranging from the start-up business of the year to the fashion and online businesses of the year.

Whether a dynamic startup, a rising SME, or an established firm: there was a category to highlight outstanding examples in all business areas.

A judging panel made up of industry leading experts shortlisted the finalists and the winners. The highly accredited judges included, Sultan Choudhury OBE, CEO and Director of Al Rayan Bank, Tariq Osmani, CEO of Henley Homes, Stephen Timms, MP and Sir Iqbal Sacranie OBE.

The ceremony showcased the wide-ranging and diverse talent that exists in UK Muslim communities and businesses. The Islam Channel Business Awards honoured the success and achievements of Britain’s Muslim individuals, groups and business people and highlighted the significant role Muslims play in contributing to the UK economy.

The event was a resounding success with 750 guests in attendance, including business executives, community and civil society leaders, ambassadors and parliamentarians.

The Islam Channel Business Awards provides a platform for businesses to shine, gain public recognition and promote their brand whilst celebrating community and co-operation as well as diversity. The Islam Channel Business Awards is an annual event and will return in 2020.
