The Report - Maldives: How will corruption accusations affect presidential elections?

New accusations of corruption have been made against the government of the Maldives. The allegations come just days before a presidential election and only weeks after the European Union decided to sanction members of the administration.

According to an investigation in to corruption on the Maldives, President Abdulla Yameen helped to clear at least 24 corrupt deals to lease islands to tourism companies. The president is also accused of being personally involved in at least one of those deals.
