The Report - Myanmar's military 'planned' & 'coordinated' atrocities against Muslim Rohingya

An investigation carried out by the United States has found that Myanmar’s military conducted a planned and coordinated campaign of mass killings, including gang rapes and other atrocities against the Muslim Rohingya minority. The report, released on Monday, is being viewed by some commentators as a justification to impose sanctions against individuals in both Myanmar’s government and military. However, the report did not describe the crackdown, in which over 700,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar, as ‘genocide’ or ‘crimes against humanity’. Investigators interviewed 1,000 Rohingya men and women in refugee camps in neighbouring Bangladesh to compile the report.
