'Sunnah in a stick' combines science and Islam

3/13/2024 5:40 PM

Many of us struggle with getting a good night's sleep, especially in our fast-paced world.

Factors like work stress, travel fatigue and even personal circumstances can disrupt our sleep patterns, leaving us feeling run down and vulnerable to illness.

This was the reality for Adnan Ebrahim, founder of a major social media brand. The relentless pressure and long hours took a toll on his well-being, manifesting in sleep deprivation and exhaustion.

He said: “It felt like I was running a million miles an hour every day and I noticed the stress starting to mount.  At first it affected my sleep. I’d spend hours tossing and turning trying to get some rest.  Then I’d wake up feeling exhausted, tense, and in desperate need of an energy kick.”

Seeking solutions within tradition

Through his personal journey, Adnan discovered the answer he was looking for within his own faith, Islam.

The Quran emphasises the importance of sleep, highlighting it as a source of rest and rejuvenation.

Additionally, the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) guides Muslims towards seeking remedies for ailments through permissible means.

Aligning faith with science

Adnan delved deeper into Islamic scriptures and identified natural ingredients mentioned in the Quran and Hadith that promote sound sleep.

These ingredients, including honey, dates, pomegranates and figs, interestingly have scientific backing for their sleep-enhancing properties.
