Qatar has pledged to fund the rebuilding of houses destroyed by Israel's latest military offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip.

According to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Qatar's Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdul-Rahman agreed to his request for the country to repair the damaged homes.

Earlier in the month, over three days, Israeli air strikes on Gaza killed at least 48 Palestinians and injured more than 360 others. Sixteen of the dead were Palestinian children.

Israeli military officials this week admitted that Israel was responsible for killing five Palestinian children on the last day of the bombardment. The army had initially blamed Islamic Jihad for the deaths.

Last year, Qatar quickly pledged $500 million to rebuild homes following Israel’s 11-day bombardment of Gaza in May 2021.
